Our Fight Against COVID-19

Although keeping the business alive was extremely difficult, we managed to scrape through, thanks to the cooperation of our colleagues and customers. Here are a few activities that GSS Projects was a part of during the years 2021 and 2020. Needless to say, we took part and contributed our best with all necessary precautions to safeguard ourselves and others.

Situation During the Onslaught of the Pandemic

During March 2020, the company was prepared to fight COVID-19 thanks to all the preventive measures that were adopted. Little did we know what was to come a few weeks later.

As a business, the first thought that we had was to be of help to the society and serve the needy and deprived. With help and assistance from the Mysuru District Administration, we distributed food and groceries to the needy.

Despite being prepared, Mysuru District Administration needed help in reaching fresh food and grocery supplies to daily wage laborers who were stranded in the city due to nationwide lockdown and we extended our helping hand.

It is at the heart of every business to ensure its survivability. While a part of the staff worked from home, others assisted the management in organizing, coordinating & executing the social works taken up by the company.

FreshFood Cooking and Supply to the Needy in 2020

Amidst the global crisis, GSS Projects was undeterred in its fight against the pandemic. With the help of Mysuru District Administration and MCC, several volunteers and our colleagues took part in a social drive. The ideawas to supply fresh and hygienic food to the poor and needy across various areas in Mysuru. This benevolent act saw many people offering convention halls, donate food supplies, cook food and identify and supply the prepared food to stranded laborers across Mysuru city.

Ration Box Supply to Daily Wage Laborers in 2020

The announcement of nationwide lockdown during the month of March 2020 had many citizens grapplingfor survival. To not earn money and stay at home meant that they could not meet their ends meet. However, GSS Projects ensured that they wouldn’t sleep on an empty stomach. We approached various businessmen and philanthropists across the city to join hands with us for this cause. With their help, we packaged monthly ration boxes which were then supplied to all BPL card holders in the city.

Awareness Campaigns with MLA Sri S A Ramdas in 2020

The first few weeks of nationwide lockdown was intense as people sat in their houses and tuned into channels that showcased the global disaster. To ease the tension and create awareness about the pandemic, our colleagues joined forces with Mysuru MLA Sri S A Ramdas in his awareness rallies where they distributed free masks to people and educated them about the dos and don’ts of the coronavirus disease. People were also reassured about better days to come in the future.

Food & Mask Distribution to COVID Warriors in 2020

While the needy were taken care of, there was a section of people that cared for the disease stricken but ignored by the rest. The frontline warriors sacrificed their peace, rest and family to save people but someone needed to take care of them. With support from MCC and Mysuru District Administration, GSS Projects launched a drive to supply freshly cooked hygienic food three times a day amidst the lockdown to all the frontline workers and COVID warriors in the city.

Broadcasting Official Information to General Public in 2020

While several concerned volunteers, COVID warriors and frontline workers fought at the front, the Mysuru District Administration was also tasked with relaying and broadcasting all relevant information to the public on a minute-by-minute basis. Our IT team worked alongside the governing body to handle, manage and broadcast government released information throughout the day on official social media handles until the nationwide lockdown was eased in June.

GSS medical helpline for our staff in 2021

Fast-forward a year, the deadly Coronavirus was back to haunt the populace of India with a more dangerous second wave of infections. This time around, the company was better prepared to safeguard the staff and their family apart from helping the general public of the heritage city. The company established a medical helpline for all the staff and their family in case of COVID related emergencies, including the provision of ambulance services and 24x7 medical support.

Vaccination Drive for Staff and Their Families in 2021

To combat the rapidly spreading infections and to safeguard our staff, the company organized a mandatory vaccination drive for employees aged 45 and above in the month of April when the government began vaccinating the public. All the eligible employees were taken to designated vaccination centers and vaccinated. Family members of all our employees aged 45 and above were also taken to the vaccination centers to ensure the wellness of the families of the company staff.

Regular Sanitization of Entire Office in 2021

As the first wave of Coronavirus infections began to recede in 2020, the business operations slowly started picking up, reducing the financial burden that it had put on the company. However, increased business operations also meant that people had to come and go, which meant that the virus could lurk in and around the office. Apart from following all the mandatory rules, the whole building was regularly sanitized to keep the infective virus at bay as often as possible.

Daily Disinfecting of Company Properties in 2021

Opening the company doors to the public and ramped up business operations meant that the chances of contracting COVID-19 was significantly higher than before. Although the employees compulsorily wore masks and frequently sanitized themselves, company properties like four wheelers often were exposed to frequent contact with the general public who visited properties in our vehicles. Our diligent staff took extra measures to disinfect the vehicles after every site visit regularly.

Immunity Boosting Yoga Sessions in 2021

The sedentary lifestyle of most of our population mostly results in the weakening of herd immunity. To boost one’s natural immunity, certain specific yogic techniques have been used from ages in our country. At GSS Projects, we just brought back these techniques and methods by practicing them daily in our office before starting work so that the office environment remained safe and immune from the virus prowling around us in the neighborhood.

Grocery Supply to COVID-19 Positive Staff in 2021

Although the company tried its level best to keep its employees off the radar of the Coronavirus, a few of our employees have been tested positive. In addition to providing the employees with medical leave and provided with 24x7 medical assistance, the COVID-19 positive staff are being constantly monitored. Other colleagues have decided to volunteer and help their Covid stricken colleagues by handing over the monthly supplies of ration provided by the company.
